How to Connect Any Email Provider via SMTP and IMAP

Connect any email provider to Automailer using SMTP and IMAP settings. SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) is used for sending emails, while IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) is used for receiving and syncing replies in your inbox.

How to Connect an SMTP and IMAP Account
Step 1: Open Email Accounts
From your dashboard, click Email Accounts from the left sidebar
Step 2: Add a New Account
Click the Add New Account button at the top of the page.
Step 3: Select Email Provider

In the Choose Your Provider window, select Any Provider (SMTP/IMAP), then click Continue.

Step 4: Enter Your Connection Details
Fill in the required account information:

Sender Information

  • Display Name (name shown when sending emails)
  • From Email (your email address)
    SMTP Settings (Sending Emails) 
    • SMTP Server 
    • SMTP Password
    • SMTP Port

      IMAP Settings (Receiving emails)

      • IMAP Server
      • IMAP Password
      • IMAP Port
        These settings are provided by your email provider
        Step 5: Connect the Account
        Click Connect Account.
        Automailer will verify your SMTP and IMAP settings before saving the inbox. Once connected, the account will appear on the Email Accounts page.

        Troubleshooting (Connection Issues)

        If your account fails to connect, check the following:

        • Your SMTP and IMAP credentials are correct 
        • Server and port values match your provider's settings 
        • IMAP access is enabled in your email provider settings
        Bulk Connect Multiple SMTP Accounts via CSV
        Step 1: Open Bulk Connect Tool
        From the Email Accounts page, click Bulk Connect.
        Step 2: Download the CSV Template
        Click Download CSV to get the correct file format.
        Step 3: Fill Out the CSV File
        Add one inbox per row using the required fields: 

        General Information

        • First Name
        • Last Name
        • From Email
        SMTP Settings (Sending Emails) 
        • SMTP Server
        • SMTP Port
        • IMAP Password

        IMAP Settings (Receiving Replies) 

        • IMAP Server
        • IMAP Port
        • IMAP Password 
        IMAP Settings (Receiving Replies)                                         
        • Do not rename column headers
        • Do not add or remove columns
        • Do not leave blank rows
        • Save file in standard CSV format (UTF-8 recommended)

        Step 4: Upload the CSV File
        Upload the completed CSV file to Automailer.
        Automailer will validate each row and connect all accounts with valid settings.

              Important Note
              SMTP is used for sending emails, while IMAP is used for receiving and tracking replies. Both are required for a fully functional email connection.
